Coursed Block Wall Fountain with Iron Scroll Spout

Nine squared blocks set under a heavy moulded cornice, each one a different colour, from apricot through chalk white to a pale sea green where old lime wash still clings. A shallow roundel is incised at the centre and a forged iron scroll spout leans out of it into a long trough hollowed from one stone. This is a village fountain rather than a château fountain, and it carries that plainness beautifully.
