Grand Coursed Wall Fountain with Acanthus Crest

The tallest fountain in the archive and the one that behaves most like architecture. Coursed limestone blocks rise almost ten feet to a moulded cornice, and above that sits a carved acanthus pediment gathered around a pinecone finial. A curled mask spouts into a fluted bowl carried on a turned column, and the water falls again into a stepped semicircular basin laid in reclaimed paving blocks. Every course carries its own colour, from bone to ochre to a cool grey where the stone weathered longest. Ancient Surfaces reclaimed and rebuilt this antique limestone wall fountain for a courtyard wall, a terrace, or the closed end of a formal garden.
