Carved Lavabo Fountain with Interlace Panel
The most finely carved piece in the collection. A baroque cartouche crest breaks into scrolls above an arched panel filled edge to edge with a continuous interlace, the kind of pattern that only reads properly when you follow one ribbon with your eye and find it never ends. A rosette at the centre carries the spout, and the water falls into a gadrooned half bowl on a carved baluster stem. The stone is pale and remarkably even, so nothing competes with the carving. Ancient Surfaces reclaimed and conserved this antique limestone lavabo for an entry hall, a garden room, or a covered loggia.
