Chiselled Frame Wall Fountain with Rosette Tap
The border is what stops you here. A scalloped outer frame is cut all the way round with small cruciform and wedge marks, tapped in by hand and spaced by eye rather than by rule, so no two runs of it are quite the same. Inside, a recessed field holds a carved rosette with a bronze tap set through the middle, and the water falls into a canted basin carried on a pedestal. Folk carving of the best kind, made by someone who was not copying anyone. Ancient Surfaces reclaimed and conserved this antique limestone wall fountain for a courtyard, a garden path, or an entry where it will be passed close every day.
