Carved Swag Panel with Forged Iron Spout

Seen this close, the carving stops being ornament and turns into cloth. A draped swag falls across the panel and gathers over an acanthus palmette, and the forged iron spout is pinned straight through the middle of it with its scrolled returns curling back against the stone. The surface is deeply pitted travertine, so every hollow holds a different depth of shadow and the whole thing changes character between morning and evening.
